881 properties are now inscribed on the World Heritage List with 680 cultural, 176 natural and 25 mixed properties in 146 States Parties. 33 of these properties you find in Germany - the Dresden Elbe Valley, however, was deleted from the list!

1995 Grube Messel, an open-pit mine with 50 million years old fossils
1996 The Cathederal at Cologne (German only) -
July 2006 the Cathederal was removed from Unesco's Red List
1996 The Places of Martin Luther's activities in Wittenberg and Eisleben
1996 The »Bauhaus« at Dessau and Weimar

1999 The Wartburg Castle in Thuringia
1999 Museumsinsel (Museum Island) in Berlin

2005 The Roman Limes in Germany (transboundary property Frontiers of the Roman Empire together with Hadrian’s Wall, UK) - German only
2006 Old town of Regensburg with Stadtamhof
2008 Berlin Modernism Housing Estates. The property consists of six housing estates that testify to innovative housing policies from 1910 to 1933.
2009 The Wadden Sea (Germany and the Netherlands)
  The Dresden Elbe Valley was deleted from the list
