Nearly finished report (including methodology)

The "nearly finished report" is a preliminary version of the DAT390 report. Building on the "draft report" (literature review), you are additionally expected to describe the methodology for your own research effort. The methodology must be validated or demonstrated, e.g., through preliminary results or a feasibility study.

The specifications for the "nearly finished report" are the same as for the final report:

• LaTeX generated PDF document, font size 11 pt. minimum, length limit 12 pages maximum.
• The report should be clearly structured, using sections (and subsections where appropriate); you are not tied to any particular structure or convention for naming these sections.
• The literature list does not count toward the page limit. You are free to cite an unlimited number of references.
• Appendices do not count toward the page limit. Make use of them only if needed. Appendices can consist of long tables, large figures, lists of terms or items, and other indices or catalogues. They may contain minor amounts of text, such as table captions.

The report should roughly be like a conference paper in data science related fields, where it is common practice to publish work with preliminary results or feasibility studies as contributions to conference proceedings. You can follow any form and style as long as it is in line common established practices in the relevant academic fields.

The "nearly finished report" will not be graded and does not contribute to your grade in DAT390, which is determined from the final report only. You will receive feedback on the following aspects of your work:

• Introduction and theory
• Methods and working practice
• Results and discussion
• Form and academic writing

These aspects are the same as the four groups of sub-criteria for grading the final report.
